Copper Ice Maker Water Supply Line
Plus A GXRLQ Universal In Line Water Filter

This kit can be used on any brand refrigerator

Kit includes a GXRLQ filter, 15 feet of high quality Copper Water Supply Line,
Compression Nut and Sleeves, a Union Coupling, Teflon Tape and Saddle Valve

Why is a refrigerator copper water supply line much better then a plastic water line?

As a service company we have seen countless floods resulting in thousands of dollars of damage to kitchen floors and the neighbor below. We have replaced plastic water lines that became brittle and broke in half. But most often, we have seen pinhole leaks where plastic water supply lines get pinched and in time develop leaks.

How to install an ice maker water supply line

1. Locate the cold water pipe nearest the ice maker. That may be in the basement, below the refrigerator or you can use the cold water supply that connects to the kitchen sink. If your water supply is copper you can use the valve supplied with this kit.

2. Turn the water supply off to your house. The main water supply shut-off valve is usually located near the water meter or on the wall that is parallel to the main street.

3. Put a compression nut over the line then slide a compression ferrule on the line. Our kit includes both ferrules plastic and copper.

4. Tighten the compression nut, but don’t over tighten it caveman style.

5. It is important that you leave enough copper in a coil behind the refrigerator so you can pull the refrigerator out for service or cleaning without damaging the water line or valve on the refrigerator.

6. Before you install the line on the refrigerator valve, place the line in a bucket and have someone turn the water on a sufficient amount to purge any debris in the line so it won’t get in the refrigerator valve.

7. Install the line to the refrigerator valve.

8. If you get vibration from the copper water line, put some pipe insulation over some of it.

9. Throw away the first few containers of ice to be sure the line is completely clean before you use the ice.
